Test Shoot - 1
New Project.
Well as you all know I was originally going to be doing a Re-imagination Story, however due to some developing issues I will no longer be continuing with the project.
I am instead re-launching the project as a series of Magazine Covers and not in the sense of copying magazine covers but images that would be good enough to grace the covers of magazines. I am going to research several magazine companies and decide which ones I am going to shoot in the style.
I will keep you all in the loop, sharing mood-boards and ideas that I have during this re-launch of a project, thank you all for baring with me whilst I get everything sorted.
Well this year has been difficult yet interesting and I think the most mazing thing about this year is the guys I met at Fashion Events.
Lewis Duncan Weedon (@ldweedon) the guy that made it all possible, after chatting on Facebook, we got to know each other and slowly became good friends. He invited me to my first backstage event Superstar Club Horror House Fashion, giving my first taste of the industry itself. Now we have become such great friends I’m helping get back into the 21st century with blogging and its fun learning about all the things he is doing.
Well how could I not mention his amazing flare for design and styling, this guy is like an advocate for Vintage everything. I admire him for being himself and not letting others guide on who he should be or what he should look like.
There is so much more I can say about Lewis I don’t think Ive seen a person who can do so much in such a little time, be a stylist then a runway coach then quickly be turned into a catwalk model. If theres a man who can do it all, well its this one.
Savita Kaye (@ladykmedia) I met this lovely woman at my first backstage event, Lewis introduced us and told me what she did. Me standing there all awkward meeting these people who lived and breathed what I wanted to do was like a dream come true. It was a brief encounter, she invited Lewis to Pakistan Fashion Week and said I could be his plus one if I wanted to go. Well of course I said yes and was excited to go. It wasn’t till PFW3 that I saw just how lovely she really was, us all taking in the runway and commenting on models and outfits. I felt like the regular Anna Wintour ha, I’m just so glad I met a great person.
Gordon Flynn (@gordonflynn) Yet again I met this man quite briefly at my first backstage event, I then met him again at PFW3. He was ever so lovely and just generally bitching ( which I love ) we all just giggled and had a great time. It was until the Fashion Meets Music event that I actual saw what this man can do, being the creative director it was an interesting experience watching him do what he does best and I do have to say he is fantastic.
Overall I’m so happy that these guys have let me into their circle and welcomed me with open arms. All I have to say is Thank You guys and I love you my Fashion Family.
Ariel -The First in part of the series of the Re-imagination Story.
Just had the first shoot in the new project series, all I have to say is that I was majorly excited to finally get the shoot done. Set up the studio and placed the lighting where I wanted it and the model got her self together with the clothing we had decided on her wearing for this shoot.
The shoot began a few test shots to make sure the lighting was just right and then we were off, trying to think of poses and making sure the model felt comfortable. I guess thats the nice guy in me coming out a little bit, anyway the model standing wasn’t working and wasn’t getting what I wanted. Sat her down on a chair, even though I couldn’t find the perfect chair always the issues with University Studios mustn’t grumble. She began to pose on the chair and it looked better and I could see how the shot was going to work as a concept.
The final shot, changed the lighting to quite something dramatic, got her into a evening gown and began to shoot her transformation into a princess. The images over all don’t show a disneyfication but more fashion forward shooting, which is perfect as I wanted more adult theme of modern woman with a splash of Disney threw in there.
I hope overall people get the concept, Im happy with how the shoot turned out and hopefully as a series of images they will make a strong suit. I can only begin to plan out my next photo-shoot and hope it works out so well and that it has the same style as the first one.
Something exciting is coming, a part of a Re-imagination Story, a little experimental trailer comes this way.
Last week I went to London Art Fair, broadening my sites to see what is out there and what is selling in the art world. Its always an interesting experience going to these kind places, I always feel lost and not in my comfort zone, they say thats a good thing.
Looking around the hundreds of Art plastered on these exhibitions, I wondered how they priced the Art and how they come up with the price in the first place. I can safely safe the art world is yet dead and more and more people are creating and being represented by galleries.
I went and listened to the first talk of the day, looking at Photography through empathy and mirror on society. Even thought the talk seemed interesting, not my usual cup of tea, they usually tell you the same, your picture needs to say something, have an intent and purpose. Not sure if its my naivety or inexperience but I always find that sometimes, the pictures that are more abstract or obscure that don’t always have a story speak to me. I know my world of Fashion sometimes they have story-lines and sometimes its pure fantasy, I guess thats why Im in love with it so much.
Anyway enough of my babbling on and on, a few ideas for layout for my final major project, although not set in stone yet. I guess inspiration will strike me at the last minuet as it usually does in the early hours of the morning. I have figured out how I would like to present it as a finished formed, we shall see how that all turns out, if I don’t change my mind that is, anyway back to thinking I go.
