Pantelis Prodromou
I have been admiring this Photographers work for a while now, I came across his portfolio online, I have included the source with this little review. This shall be my first ever review on another Photographer so please be kind, i will be honest and give my opinion on imagery and what kind of Photographer I believe this guy to be.
Pantelis now Editor in Chief of Risqué Fashion magazine Coitus, began his journey at Kingston University, receiving a BA in Photography. When I first laid my eyes on this creators images, I was astounded colourful, bold and daring, it was a reminder of LaChapelle. Even though every photographer is influenced or inspired by many photographers, I believe Pantelis has now created his own signature style which can be identified. Even though professionally he and I are at different spectrums of imagery, I applaud him for his alternative take on fashion, sexuality and youth. I tell you guys now this is a Photographer to watch out for, his magazine always sells out even though its an Independent magazine. If that wasn’t enough to be inspired by, the aspiring Photographer, has now worked with Models who are up and coming the business, creating himself a create circle of networks and connections.
Coitus Magazine itself it well what it says on the tin, the magazine is an alternative look at Youth, Sex and Fashion. Many contributions are given to the magazine from across the globe, making this young Editor in Chief ambitious and passionate about his own personal work. Even with complaints and adversity, the young rising Photographer has stayed true to his own vision and never compromised on what he wanted the magazine to be, even if it would help him make money. Not many artists or business men would turn down a chance to make money, it takes a real artist to be true to themselves to the bitter end, even if it doesn’t work out for them, this is one of my biggest respects of Mr Prodromou.
I think that Mr Pantelis is the kind of Photographer who doesn’t like to follow the rules that many other Photographers like to follow, I guess thats what makes his work so magical. Instead of being a storyteller through his imagery, he keeps more of a loose theme, this allows him to create more images, explore more ideas and create alluring images. Also he’s isn’t a ‘Snappy’ photographer, all his images seem thought out, or that he is allowing his models to have fun in their shoots to create the best kind of images for his particular style.
Overall, I think this Photographer is fantastic, even though we may think different on images decisions, he is an Artist of his own and if we all thought and produced the same way, well the world would be a pretty dull place.
